The Top Indian B-Schools That Accept GMAT/GRE Scores for MBA Admissions

What is the GMAT exam?

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a computer adaptive test (CAT) intended to assess certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA. The GMAT is administered in standardized test centers around the world. There are also special accommodations that are available for test takers with documented disabilities. Test takers who require such accommodations must submit a Request for Testing Accommodations to the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) at least four weeks prior to their scheduled test date.

The GMAT consists of four sections: an analytical writing assessment, an integrated reasoning section, a quantitative section, and a verbal section. Test takers are allotted three and a half hours to complete the exam, not including optional breaks. The analytical writing assessment consists of one 30-minute essay question. The essay will be given two independent ratings and these ratings will be averaged to produce a final score of 0-6.

What is the GRE exam?

The GRE is a standardized test that is accepted by many graduate schools as part of the admissions process. The exam is divided into three sections: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Each section is designed to test different skills that are important for success in graduate school.

i) The Verbal Reasoning section measures your ability to read and understand complex texts. You will be asked to interpret the meaning of passages and to analyze the relationships between the ideas in the passages.

ii) The Quantitative Reasoning section measures your ability to reason quantitatively. You will be asked to solve problems using mathematical and statistical methods.

iii) The Analytical Writing section measures your ability to think critically and to communicate your ideas clearly and effectively. You will be asked to write two essays: one on an issue and one on an argument.

Difference between GMAT and GRE

When it comes to choosing between the GMAT and the GRE, there are a few key differences to consider. The GMAT is focused primarily on testing verbal and mathematical skills, while the GRE is a more well-rounded exam that tests verbal, mathematical, and analytical skills. The GRE is also generally considered to be a more difficult exam, so if you’re looking for a challenge, the GRE may be the better option.

Another key difference is that the GMAT is offered exclusively by MBA programs, while the GRE is accepted by a wider range of graduate programs. So, if you’re looking to apply to a business school, the GMAT is your only option. But if you’re considering a graduate program outside of business, the GRE may be a better fit. Finally, it’s worth noting that the GMAT is a computer-adaptive test, which means that the difficulty of the questions you’re presented with adapts based on your performance.
